Bridal Shower, Easter Eggs, Wedding Gowns, Oh My

by Kim on April 15, 2012

Hello!  Sorry I’ve been MIA for almost a week.  I was about to write my California recap post as soon as I got back to Texas but I discovered that my site was down.  If you happened to visit my blog this past Wednesday, you probably got redirected.  Long story short, everything was deleted but we called our web host and they got everything back for us.  It appeared that everything was up and running within 24 hours but we waited until we got the confirmation email that everything was good to go.  And when I say we, I mean Nick and me since we share a web hosting account.  All of his web stuff was deleted too.  Anyway, we got the confirmation email a few hours ago and now I can finally share with you my trip to California.  This is mostly going to be a picture recap because I don’t feel like typing a ton right now, but everyone loves pictures so I’m sure you all won’t mind!

I flew in Friday afternoon and had a chance to catch up with Megan, her parents, and her fiancé, Mark.  No pictures of Friday to share, unfortunately.  However, Megan told me about a commercial that she, Mark, and her sister were in, which started to air while I was visiting.  We never saw it on TV, but we found one version of the commercial online!  Check it out here.

Saturday morning, Megan and I headed over to Megan’s bridal shower, which was hosted by Megan’s friend, Lauren, and Lauren’s mom.  Since Megan is getting married in Hawaii this summer, the bridal shower had a Hawaiian theme.

It was a really nice bridal shower and we had a lot of fun.  The food was awesome, too!

Onto Sunday!  It just happened to be Easter.  Megan, Mark, and I headed over to Megan’s parents place for an Easter egg hunt and brunch.  Megan’s sister, Dana, joined us as well.

After we stuffed ourselves on a delicious egg and sausage casserole, us ladies went on a little hike.

After we burned off brunch, Megan and I headed back to Megan’s place to get ready for Easter dinner.  Megan and Mark were hosting both of their families for the holiday dinner.

While I missed not spending Easter with Nick, I was happy that both Megan’s and Mark’s family welcomed me in on the holiday (and gave me WAY too much candy)!

Monday brought another fun girls day!  Megan made an appointment for me to try on wedding gowns at the place where she found hers.  Megan’s mom and sister joined us.

This one was pretty, but I didn’t like the way the seams felt.

This was a doily dress!  I tried it on just for fun.

This was a very heavy, poofy dress.  Also, another one to try on for fun.  Looking at the picture, this dress really weighs me down!

A tea-length dress.  Made me look short.

Another tea-length dress.  We decided this was the ballerina dress!  We liked it better than the first tea-length dress, but it wasn’t a keeper.

Lace!  I liked this one, but didn’t love it.

I liked this one a lot, but forgot about it quickly.  After the appointment I looked through these pictures and realized that I forgot that I really liked this one.

I hated this one!  When I showed Nick the pictures when I got home, Nick said I looked like a mummy!

I really loved the color of this dress.  It’s hard to tell in this picture, but it was somewhere between champagne and peach in color.  Very pretty, but the dress itself didn’t win me over.

And last, but not least, the dress I almost walked out the door with.  Megan and I were scanning the racks and I pointed this one out, but mentioned that I thought the shoulder straps were too wide, so I kept going, then I went back to it because there was something that really intrigued me about it.  It ended up being my favorite.

Detail shot.  When I showed Nick all of the gowns, he really liked this one.  But I didn’t end up getting it.  There was a dress here in Dallas that is more stuck in my mind even though it’s double the price of this one.

After I finished trying on all the wedding gowns, Dana and I tried on our bridesmaid dresses.

These are fun dresses that can be styled all kinds of ways.  It will be fun to play with the dresses with the rest of the bridesmaids when we are in Hawaii.

Tuesday brought a rainy day.  Megan and I attempted to go to another bridal boutique but we quickly discovered that the owner of the store was the gown designer and knowing those dresses were high dollar, we quickly left.  We spent some time walking around town, stopping in a jewelry store where Megan looked over wedding bands.  Eventually it was time to eat and we headed to a funky little restaurant called Sol Food.

The food is Puerto Rican and, well, awesome!  If you are ever in Marin County, I recommend checking it out.

My trip went by super fast and we had a lot of fun.  I miss Megan already, but I’m excited to see her is a few short months is Hawaii!
