As promised, here are a few of the professional pictures from the Thrill of The Grill 5k race from this past weekend! If you missed the recap post, you can check it out here.
As you can see, I snagged these photos right off the photographer’s website. Hopefully he doesn’t mind…
In other news, today has been BUSY! It’s the first day in a few weeks that I haven’t had a work-like commitment or been out of town and even still, it’s already it’s 4:30 PM and I’ve barely made a dent on my list for the day.
I went to Body Pump this morning. I haven’t been to the Wednesday AM class in several weeks due to my work-like commitments or traveling and I was hoping the instructor wouldn’t be doing the new-ish 81 release. Release 81 has been out for four weeks now and I’ve only been able to go to one particular class on my way home from volunteering with the City urban design studio. Although I used to take this particular instructor’s (who will remain nameless) class all the time when I was working full-time, because it was close to my office and immediately after work, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t really like her as an instructor and it’s led me to hate release 81. So this morning I attended Lin’s class and have also realized that Lin is my favorite Body Pump instructor and release 81 isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was. I am still partial to release 80 music over 81, but Lin makes it fun! It came to my attention today that Lin teaches another Body Pump class on the same day I normally take Body Pump with nameless instructor, but just a few hours later and closer to home so I’m thinking I might switch to that class and try to get Nick to come with me! I think Body Pump is the only class I can convince Nick to attend with me and this particular class would be late enough that he wouldn’t have to rush home from work. We’ll see if I can get him to join me soon! (I know you are reading this, Nick!) I’ll keep the rest of you posted.
Anyway, that was a long, drawn out way of telling you all that I went to the gym this morning, both for Body Pump and a broken up 3-mile run on the treadmill. I struggled through the run this morning, even though I broke it up, but I finished and that’s the important thing. By the time I got home it was already 11 AM and I was STARVING. Our refrigerator was down to various condiments, the co-op produce, and co-op eggs. The freezer and pantry weren’t much better, but I decided to make a “dish” that took me down memory lane. Hard boiled eggs, butter (or Earth Balance, rather), salt, and pepper.
This particular dish reminds me of family vacations to the Outer Banks in North Carolina when I was really little. I was born in the northern Virginia area, but every year as far back as my memory can remember, we’d take a big family trip during the summer to the beach. I don’t know why hard-boiled eggs, butter, salt, and pepper makes me think of these vacations in particular, but I clearly remember eating this dish in our beach condo that we rented for the week. So whenever I eat this, I immediately think of the ocean, sand, and “butterfly” seashells that my brother, sister, and I spent hours collecting. (I don’t really know what kind of shells they were, but they were little and the two sides were still hinged together, making them look like butterflies, similar to this image.)
Ah, it makes me want to go to the beach right now, just thinking about it! Do you have any meals that take you on a trip down memory lane?
After a quick breakfast/lunch I headed out for a waxing appointment. Ouch! Short term pain for longer term less hair!
I stopped at Market Street on my home to do our big weekly grocery shopping.
Since we were down to condiments, eggs, and vegetable, this was a serious grocery trip, although I only planned for three dinners in this grocery trip. But I walked away paying $170! Yikes! Upon unloading and putting away the groceries, I promptly made a yummy curry chicken salad to snack on and hopefully serve as my lunch for the next couple of days (if it doesn’t get devoured by the chicken salad monster first).
And that brings me up to present! Busy day, but not a whole lot has been accomplished, like I said! Nick came home early from work and dug into the chicken salad already so my fears of not being able to eat it for lunch tomorrow and Friday may be coming true
I’m off to feed the kitty, purchase our tickets for summer travels (more to come on that), and start dinner.
Hope you are having a productive hump day!
