Best Thai Signature Giveaway

by Kim on March 10, 2014

A little over a week ago, I had the honor to try out two seasonal dishes at my very favorite Thai restaurant in Dallas, Best Thai Signature.  When Nick and I were living in the condo, we would order delivery from there all the time.  Since we moved to another part of town, we are pretty far away from their two locations (one in Addison and the other in Far North Dallas), so I jumped at the chance to come in for a date night to try out their seasonal specials when they got in touch with me.

First up, and not a seasonal special, but a soon-to-be-new “Small Bites” menu item, (and hopefully I’m spelling everything correctly), the Ming Wrap.

Meaw, the owner of Best Thai Signature, brought these little wraps to our table and instructed us to roll them up and then spoon in some of the dipping sauce on the top.  These little bites were filled with fried coconut, ginger, lime, peanuts, red onions, carrots, and dipped into a sweet sauce.  They were light and fresh and the citrusy tang of the lime really stood out to me.

Next came our first seasonal special; Thai Spring Salad.

It’s curry pasta topped with a spinach, strawberries, mushrooms, red onions, carrots, fresh sliced avocado, grilled chicken, grilled shrimp and served with a house made Thai Lime Vinaigrette.  They recommend pairing this salad with Natura Organic Chardonnay.

This was super fresh and delicious!  Of course I love pasta and Thai food, so this really won me over with curried pasta!  Nick pushed the mushrooms my way but other than that, he really liked this dish too.  And of course, he had fun playing with meat on a stick!

Next up was the second seasonal special; Pad Prik King.

Pad Prik King is a spicy shrimp and scallop stir-fry served with steamed asparagus and healthy brown rice or jasmine rice. They recommend pairing this dish with Natura Organic Sauvignon Blanc.

IMG_8706 This was really good, but holy cow was it spicy!!  Meaw is working on the level of spice and I believe she is going to have it so you can request your level of spiciness.  I normally go vegetarian when we order out for Thai food, but this shrimp and scallop dish was a nice change of pace for me.  The shrimp were breaded and fried while the scallops were simply stir-fried.  Yum, yum, yum!  The asparagus definitely made me think of the first signs of spring.  There are chili peppers in this dish too and I happened to eat one that was loaded with seeds.  My mouth was on fire!  I wondered if I would ever be able to have normal sensation in my mouth again.  While alcohol definitely doesn’t neutralize the heat, the sweetness of the Sauvignon Blanc definitely soothed the fire in my mouth!  Like I said, Meaw is still doing some tweaking so if you go in and order this, you should be able to ask for a mild version!

IMG_8707 I asked Meaw what the herb was that is chiffonade on top and I should have written it down immediately when she said it because it now escapes me, but that herb was a very strong (and good) flavor in this dish.  She told me that it is very expensive to buy here, so she grows her own.  Smart woman!  Now if I could remember what it was called, I’d grow some too!

Finally, we were served Pepper Rice with Coconut Ice Cream.

IMG_8708 This definitely cooled my mouth down!  Thai deserts are my favorite kind of deserts!  Nice and creamy with just the right amount of sweet!

So now onto the part that you all have been waiting for!  The giveaway!  One lucky reader will get to choose one of their seasonal specials and wine pairings on the house; either the Thai Spring Salad with the Natura Organic Chardonnay OR the Pad Prik King with the Natura Organic Sauvignon Blanc.  The offer is good while the seasonal special lasts, during this spring and at either their Addison or Far North Dallas location.  Simply use the Rafflecoper below and one lucky winner will be selected on Friday.  Best of luck!
